Lossing a Family Pet

Lossing a Family Pet is one of the hardest things I have gone through.  Words nor tears can bring them back and try to grieve with other family pets is more difficult as trying to be as normal or same habits as when your pet was alive. Lost for word and the best way to remember my Blaze is through portraits.  So here are some of my favourite pics of him.

Love and missing you deeply Blaze aka Love Bum.

Why you should Blog?

Today, it’s a must to keep up with social media by blogging. Everyone has a cell phone and it’s the normal thing to do.  In my day, it was face to face or pick up the telephone and dial a number to talk to someone on the other line. That was so long ago and it’s a reality check now that I have re-entered college to upgrade my skills and today’s technologies of what is happening in the world of photography, it is very overwhelming some days.  Social media is one of the biggest parts of promoting and marketing yourself into society.  Yes, it’s easy to take a photograph, then edit it but to post it on a blog to explain to the world, why you took this photo, what’s the meaning behind it, what was done to it, what point are you trying to get across, what are you marketing or selling and the questions continue.

In my own unique little world, it’s simple and direct, meaning I take pride in planning my photo shoots, poses, location and then editing. Then finally putting it together for the client to see the final photos.  I could take up to 300 in an hour but only loving a few that would share to the world. A photo speaks for itself and can say 1000 words without explaining every detail about it.

I have always had my own problems about written detailed personal information about my work or even myself. The simple fact about me is that I love my son, animals, family, friends and photography. It’s always been easy to take portraits that tell my story. After I show my client their portraits they seem to be in shock of what I can capture through my camera lens or what my vision that I can see.  I love people with a true natural real and genuine smile.  My goal is always to be authentic in photography.

Writing blogs isn’t the easiest task to do. It is hard to keep the younger generation from getting bored of what I am trying to get across.  That is why I love photography; your photos speak for themselves and tell a story of its own.

I have enjoyed my experience in social media as it’s making me market and promote my photography, talking with fellow photographers about everything and anything about photography, from help, advice, how-to and feedback. The topics, articles and photos/videos are endless. This is making my education and knowledge even stronger than I have ever imagined.

Behind the Scenes Video

Durham College has taught me how to be creative and to make videos. Digital Videography Course has been an experience like no other. I had absolutely no knowledge on anything to do with videos and now I can create them. This final project video was done by Mathew, Noah was the interviewee and Kayla and I was behind the camera.

With Social Media Class you are learning about all the social media outlets to promote your business. It’s a whole new world in media land as you have to dedicate numerous hours to blogging, posting, twitter, facebook, Behance, Instagram, and WordPress. There are much more to mention but these are the top ones to get videos out.

This group assignment was fun, exciting and a great field trip for us to get our project done. We all worked on this together and was shot in a couple of hours. That to me was team work and there wasn’t a dull moment that day.

Special thanks to my Group, Kayla, Mathew, and Noah for making this assignment a rememberable one. They have also taught me a lot of things to do in shooting videos and editing in Adobe Premiere.

Behind the Scenes & Final Photo

This was a Group Assignment for our Social Media Class at Durham College. It’s to showcase our skills learned in Digital Photography course at Durham College. It allows future students that want to attend this course to see what you can do and how much we have learned from our professors, classmates and ourselves. Teamwork for a group assignment was amazing, fun and exciting when it’s doing what you love to do.

Scouting out a location was easy for our group as one of our group members does this frequently. The portrait/landscape was perfect for our theme and the masks added a flare for a creepy photo. The editing made it look dark, gloomy setting the perfect mood for the photo.

Special thanks to Kayla, Noah, and Mathew as without them in my group, I wouldn’t have had a perfect outcome in the portraits/landscape abandoned farm that we chose to do. The photos captured all our ideas for this assignment. We all have our own way of showing off our individual niche in photography. Adobe Photoshop was helpful in editing the photos.

First, I would like to thank the lovely ladies that modeled for me and a fellow student.  It was 2 hours of fun and went by very fast.  The lights were bright and the heels were killers on the feet but everyone looked beautiful and portraits turned out amazing.  While taking over 350 photos of 7 people was great, as I normally take that on one person.

Photography is a passion that you can’t always put into words and to explain them to you, honestly, there are no words. I just ask you to look at them and the photos speak for themselves.

Three Dog Bakery

My experience while making this short video was a learning one. First thing was trying to get an idea of a funny commercial with something I am passionate about, that was an easy task. Next step was to do a storyboard and get prepare for the right spot, camera angles, lighting, props, and an actress to play the roles. Then I had to find a product that fit into my ideas, after that is was getting an actress and the animals to do what was required of them, it was pretty easy with treats for all of them.  Angelina the actress, was amazing and was so excited to do this video with the dogs.  She didn’t even hesitate to eat the cookies as we believe that if it’s good enough for the dogs then we as humans should be able to enjoy it too.

Would you not want to enjoy a fresh All-Natural baked cookie from the Bakery?                                 Don’t they look like Human cookies?

The dogs did enjoy their cookies during and after the filming of this video.
